Overview

Route : Hanoi – Mai Chau – Ninh Binh – Halong – Hue -HoiAn – Mekong – Saigon

This classic cycle exploration of Vietnam, starts in Hanoi Capital and ends in the Hochiminh city in the south of Vietnam . Along the way we pause to visit the main sites in Halong Bay , HoaBinh, Hoi An, Hue, and finally Hochiminh city. What makes this tour special is our route hardly touches the frenetic Highway One, as we ride along quiet or little used roads to discover the real Vietnam. Taking time out of the saddle we have excursions by boat in Halong, Hue and on Mekong river as well as interesting rides to Cu Chi Tunnels. After cycling through the incredible limestone karst scenery of HoaBinh and Halong bay. then passing the HaiVan pass to Hoian Old commercial town from 17century. On reaching Hochiminh city, we have time to ride to Mekong delta and overnight in Vietnamese homes and try to be the vietnamese one time.

Day 1: Arrival in Hanoi + A short classic tour

his simple house-on-stilts and the One-Pillar pagoda near Ba Dinh Square, where the most solemn ceremonies of Hanoi take place. Continue the trip to picturesque West Lake to visit Tran Quoc Pagoda, the oldest pagoda in Hanoi built from 6th Century then take Cyclo tour (1 hour) to visit around Old Quarter of Hanoi . Night in Hanoi.

Day 2: Hanoi – Mai chau ( B, L, D)

Wake early and enjoy breakfast at the hotel, before setting off on your drive to Mai Chau – a yawning valley, cradling picturesque rice paddies and boarded by looming karst rock formations. Have an authentic lunch with a local family of the Thai Tribe and enjoy some free time to acquaint yourself with the villagers. At 3:00 PM cycle along the tarmac trails through the village and across the rice paddies. Return to Mai chau HideAway Resort to freshen up and savor a delicious dinner at restaurant.

Day 3: Mai chau –Cuc Phuong ( B, L, D)

Have breakfast at the village then drive to Nho Quan and spend the day biking through the lush and beautiful countryside. Stop for a picnic lunch then bike through Cuc Phuong National Park. Continue to cycle through country lanes and across emerald-green rice fields. Arrive in Tam Coc in the late afternoon. Check-in at the hotel and spend rest of the day at your leisure.

Day 4 : Tam Coc – Hanoi ( B,L)

Have breakfast at the hotel, then start the day the local way—rowing traditional sampans through the rice fields to visit 3 caves in Tam Coc (Hang Ca, Hang Giua and Hang Con). Have lunch then bike to Bich Dong to visit the mountaintop pagoda. Continue you on your bike trip, cycling through the local villages to Hoa Lu. Our escorted van pick up and transfer back to Hanoi. Night in Hanoi.

Day 5: Hanoi – Halong ( B, L, D) - No cycling.

Breakfast at your hotel.
8:30: Our transport and guide will pick you up from your hotel in Hanoi and start our trip to explore the most amazing bay in the North of Vietnam. On the way, we will have a quick stop at the middle of the way to rest.
12.30: Arrive in our office at Hon Gai Pier, you will have a bit time to relax and enjoy a cup of tea/coffee. Wait for our captain to finish the registration and transfer by tender to our boat.
12.45: Enjoy welcome drink and spend a couple minutes to briefing about safety on boat and activities included then we check in our cabin.
13.30: Delicious Vietnamese set menu will be served while leisurely cruising further into Bai Tu Long Bay.
15.00: Arrive in kayaking area – that is Cap La Island. Enjoy kayaking through the karst and breathtaking nature, swimming and relaxing.
17.30: Get back to the boat and enjoys our Sunset party while our cruise sailing to the overnight anchorage.
19.00: Sumptuous set-dinner on board.
20.30: Free time to challenge yourself in Vietnamese puzzle games, or gathers your group/family for a board game; try your luck with squid fishing or simply has a cocktail and enjoy the quiet night on the bay.

Day 6: Halong – Hanoi – ( Brunch) Flight to Hue.

06.00: Start your day with a Tai Chi routine on sundeck or catch a morning view of the stunning bay’s landscape with a cup of tea or coffee.
07.00: Breakfast will be served in Western style, familiar to you to fulfill your strength and ready for another exploring day.
08.00: Explore the well hidden Thien Canh Son Cave.
09.00: Upon return to the boat you will have about 30 minutes to freshen up and finish packing.
10.00: Attend in a Vietnamese cooking demonstration. You can quickly learn a simple but delicious Vietnamese dish that Gordon Ramsey (a 2 Michelin Star Chef) used to guide – Nem Cuon or challenge yourself in fruit and vegetables carving.
11.00: Enjoy a traditional Vietnamese lunch on boat.
12.00: Back to the harbor and disembark in Hon Gai pier.
12.30: transport and guide will take you back to Hanoi for flight to Hue.
Pick up at Phu Bai airport of Hue by private car. Transfer to your hotel. Overnight in Hue.

Day 07 : Visit Hue by Bike ( B,L)

Hue was the former capital of Viet Nam before 1945. It holds the treasures of Viet Nam’s Royal past including: tombs, pagodas,typical blend of French and Viet Nam archirectures and historical relics. Before you cycle you will visit Imperial Citadel, including Forbidden Purple City. The latter was almost totally destroyed in Viet Nam War during Tet Offensive. This is a special character in Hue so you could experience and learn about this. Your ride is about 20km through some traditional villagers, rice fields, countryside of Hue, stop at some sites: Thien Mu pagoda, Minh Mạng tomb. Your guide will arange good restaurant so you can try some of the local specialitiesthat graced the Nguyen emperors banquet tables. Then we get back the hotel. Free time DongBa market and TruongTien bridge Overnight in Hue .

Day 08: Hue - Hoian ( B,L )

Our guide will retrieve you from your hotel in Hue and organize a transfer out of the city. The day’s bike ride will begin at Thuan An beach and head to Cau Hai lagoon, where you will see local fishermen and stilt houses on the water. Lunch will either be held as a picnic on the way, or at a local restaurant. After lunch, we’ll continue riding to Lang Co beach. On the way, you’ll cycle up the Hai Van pass and enjoy a scenic view from the summit. Then, we’ll continue cycling along the coast to Hoi An, an ancient town located in Viet Nam’s central Quang Nam Province, on the north bank near the mouth of the Thu Bon River. Overnight in Hoi An.

Day 09 : Hoi An – My Son – Hoi An ( B,L )

This morning, ride out of town to visit My Son, the ancient centre of Cham civilisation. The ride is worth the effort in itself and is arguably one of the best cycling routes. Transfer out of town to avoid the highway before cycling along scenic country backroads pass through rice fields, eucalyptus forest and many scenic villages. The road climbs away from the coast offering stunning views.
Set out for a challenging ride from the outskirts of Hoi An on a quiet back road to the famous Cham Towers of My Son. My Son was an imperial city during the Cham dynasty, between the 4th and 12th centuries, and more than 70 towers and temples remain rising majestically from the rice paddies. The ride is through a remote area surrounded by stunning views and a place where very few tourists venture. Arrive triumphant at these most wonderful ancient towers and enjoy a picnic lunch before transferring back to Hoi An.
Spend the late afternoon at leisure to explore the ancient town.
Overnight in Hoi An.

Day 10 : Hoian - Danang -Hochiminh ( B,L) Flight

Breakfast at the hotel.Am : Transfer to airport for moring flight to HoChiMinh city.
On arrival, Pick up and transfer to restaurant for lunch.
Pm: take a classic tour to visit : Notre dame Catheral, built between 1877 and 1883 by French, most of the materials were transferred from Marseille (France). Next to the Church, you walk to visit the Central Post Office, built 1886 and ended 1891 by Gustave Eiffel. Your next destination is Reunification Palace which was built in 1868, named Norodom Palace and inaugurated in 1873. In 1963, this palace was heavily destroyed by bombs. On 30 April 1975, the tanks of the liberation army entered Independence Palace. After the liberation, Independence Palace became the headquarters of the City’s military Administration Committee.
We’ll take you through the Chinese district of Saigon, stop to see a sweet smelling flower market, & visit Thien Hau temple (called Godess of Mercy, in English). It is believed that Thien Hau Lady can travel over the oceans on a mat and ride the clouds to save people in the trouble on the high seas. Night in Saigon.

Day11: SaiGon – BenTre – TraVinh (B, L, D)

8h00 am: Leaving Saigon, our transport will take you for about 1.5hrs drive to My Tho, the gateway to the mighty Mekong. Take a short break at Mekong rest stop before continuing our drive crossing the new Rach Mieu bridge over the main Mekong river to BenTre, a province that provides some of the most beautiful scenery in the Mekong delta, with lots of small winding channels lined with water palms. We start riding in back country roads, feeling lost under the green coconut canopy. We also pass Ba Lai river, a smaller branch of Mekong on our way, continue our bike ride toward HamLuong bridge and have lunch break at a local place.
After lunch, take hammock siesta or walking through local village to visit a farmer house breeding fighting cocks. Then we hop on bike again for another 10km along Mo Cay canal to visit coconut husk peeling workshops. Our van meet us at ChoThom for water supply, then we kick off another 30k through the coco palms to AnThoi, CamSon commune and end up at the mekong. Crossing the huge CoChien branch of Mekong river to Vam TraVinh.
You might want mount your bikes again and savor a final ride 8km to TraVinh town. Overnight in TraVinh town.

Day 12: TraVinh – CauKe – SaiGon (B, L)

TraVinh is the homeland of Khmer people, there are more than 250 Khmer pagodas in the province and over 300,000 Khmer people. The most populated Khmer minority in the mekong delta provinces. So we will spend this morning time to discover beautiful Theravada pagodas like OngMet, Ang pagoda, historical Ba Om pond and encounter the Khmer monks in their pagoda. We keep cycling 20km through tranquil rice fields, countryside villages to TieuCan. This is the highlight of mekong delta cycling tour 2 days BenTre TraVinh. Arrived in TieuCan, we explore a colorful Khmer pagoda here, then we kick off another 23km to CauKe. Lunch break at a local rest stop.
In the afternoon, we will transfer two hours back to MyTho where we have small bike routes lined with expansive rice fields and dragon fruit farms on your way back to Saigon. Please discuss with your guide for extra cycling road. It’s a chance to stop and walk to the rice field or dragon fruit farms. Tour ends in Saigon. Night at Hotel.

Day 13: Bike to CuChi Tunnels ( B, L)

8h00 am, Pick up at Hotel. The Cuchi Tunnels are an immense network of connecting underground tunnels that were the location of several military campaigns during the Vietnam War; they were the Viet Cong's base of operations for the Tet Offensive in 1968. To visit the tunnels, we’ll transfer out of Ho Chi Minh City to Tan Phu Trung village. We’ll ride through rubber plantations, and see locals making rice paper and wine. You’ll have some time to watch a movie about the war in 1967 before walking around the historical battle site. We’ll even go down to the original tunnel, which is 3m underground. As a plus, you’ll have a chance to get some target practice with real guns and bullets. For lunch, we’ll enjoy Viet Cong tapioca food and pandan tea on site before heading back to the bus for a transfer to Ho Chi Minh City to end the trip. Night at Hotel.

Day 14 : Saigon Departure. ( B )

Breakfast at hotel. Free at leasure till transfer to the airport for departure.
